We've been extremely fortunate to have our musicals from the past two years win Outstanding Musical at the Patty Duke Awards, which is the regional arts program that qualifies students for the Jimmy Awards in NYC, sponsored by the Broadway League. Our casts from those shows were selected to perform a number from the productions at the Patty Duke Awards Ceremony at the Morrison Center in Boise. Both years we traveled to Boise together as a cast to receive our awards and to perform on the Morrison Center stage. It was a huge honor to receive those awards two years in a row and we are deeply grateful!
As we prepare for our musical this year, we need your help! Our students are committed to working hard to put together another fantastic show in hopes to receive this amazing honor a third year in a row. The costs to travel to Boise by charter bus and to stay the night in a hotel are high, and the school district's funding for an event like this is non-existent. We are seeking any donations you may be willing to give to help us make our way to Boise this year. Any dollar amount will help!
In the event that we do not win this year, the money raised will still go towards our program as we are always in pursuit of educational opportunities in the theatre that require travel. We've taken our students to festivals and competitions around Idaho, and we've been to see professional theatre productions in Utah. We've even had opportunities in the past to bring professional guest artists to work with our students on our stage. So any money raised will easily be put to good use!
We thank you for your generous support of our program. Diamondback Dramatics is as successful as it is because of the terrific support we've received from parents, families, friends, and arts supporters like you!!!
